Step into Carate, a remote beach community that sits at the foot of the famous Corcovado National Park. Fully embrace nature from your oceanfront villa at LagunaVista Villas on Carate Beach, a perfect platform from which to explore the surrounding rainforest and its abundant wildlife. This off the beaten path location is the gateway to what National Geographic Magazine describes as “the most biologically intense place on earth”. Our friends at Laguna Vista will make your stay a truly comfortable and memorable experience.
LagunaVista Villas & More
Sitting atop a small peninsula overlooking a freshwater lagoon and the black sand beaches of Playa Carate is LagunaVista Villas. This solar powered and eco-friendly lodge provides comfortable surroundings, plunge pools, and superior accommodation. From your villa deck, the rainforest, lagoon, coconut palms, beach, ocean and sky create endless layers of beauty. The spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife on display here and in Corcovado National Park attract visitors from all over the world to this unspoiled tropical paradise.
Unpack your bags and enjoy the view from your very own oceanfront villa. At your doorstep is the lush rainforest canopy and the warm Pacific Ocean. Enjoy warm tropical breezes and the sound of the ocean waves as they lull you to sleep. You will be staying in one of eight gorgeous private villas that feature hot indoor and outdoor water showers, bathing tubs, ceiling fans, and comfortable beds, either a king or two singles. All have expansive decks, some featuring private plunge pools, the perfect spot to look out over tranquil rainforest, lagoon, beach and ocean panoramas. One main solar system powers all units. This is what we call “glamping”, glamorous camping!
Main House, Restaurant & Food
Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner from this open-style restaurant and lounge. Here you can relax, read a book, see abundant wildlife and capture some of the best sunsets! The main house features an open kitchen, bar and dinning area as well as a private washroom. The reception is also located here so if you have any questions like where can you find a pool towel, that’s the place to ask! Blending local Costa Rican ingredients to an array of international fare, your rainforest escape includes a gastronomical adventure. Try everything from freshly picked fruits from the garden to spices and flavours unique only to the tropics. Enjoy three delicious healthy meals per day that include organic meats, vegetables and other tasty side dishes. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free diets, just to name a few, are also on the menu.
Pool & Palapa
Take a refreshing dip in your very own infinity pool, the perfect ending to your day’s adventures. The pool also offers a perfect place for yoga practice early morning and late afternoon.
Sit under our thatched palapa where you will find a large blue mattress and pillows, perfect to read a book or catch up on some much needed R&R. Perfectly shaded, this cool palapa is also the perfect place for hanging out with friends to enjoy a cocktail or a cold beer.
Warm Pacific Waves & Wild Lagoon
Surrounding the lodge’s peninsula is Pejiperrito lagoon, home to an array of aquatic wildlife. Caymans, american crocodiles and a variety of birds call this lagoon home. Luckily for us, the crocs and caymans are more scared of us then we are of them! Enjoy a guided or non-guided kayak tour on the lagoon or even a sunset boat tour (using our quiet electric motor) to spot local and migratory birds like Rosate Spoonbills, herons and so many more.
You can also cross the lagoon and head to the beach where you can enjoy the dark warm sand and fun waves of the Pacific Ocean. Walk for miles without seeing another soul. This is one of Costa Rica’s most impressive and pristine beaches in all of the country. If you’re lucky you might spot migrating whales and dolphins!
